DO's & DONT's

*     Carpool :  The less vehicles trampling around out there, the better, right?

*     Leave No Trace ("LNT"):  whatever you bring in, take it out with you when you leave.  That means all garbage and everything.  Pick up other people's trash, too, and take it away with you.

*     No glass??:   This is often recommended, just for safety issues.  If you bring something in glass (try not to!), consider bringing a cup to pour it into, to carry around and drink from. )

*     Fire:

        FIRE PERFORMERS:    There are areas designated for fire-performance.

        BONFIRES:  There are fire pits, rings and other designated fire areas.  Feel free to bring extra firewood for those area.

STUFF TO BRING

*     Whatever you want FOR YOU, PERSONALLY, for camping, eating, partying, hiking, dancing in the great outdoors.

        WATER??:  Be prepared with all the water you'll want for drinking.  There is a well on-site you can use for to fill solar showers, general washing, etc.

        SHADE:  There are tree-shaded areas to put your tents in, but feel free to bring carports and pop-ups or any other preferred shade structures.

        TOILET PAPER:  Single-ply is best - and pack it out!

        FOOD, DRINK, PROPER CLOTHING, FLASHLIGHT, HULA-HOOPS, SUNSCREEN, GAMES, HAT, SUNGLASSES, SUNSCREEN, WATER GUNS, ETC, ETC, ETC!

*     Decorations/Ambience

        LIGHTING:  The location already has good amount of lighting, but feel free to bring  additional items, like extension cords, Christmas lights, rope lights, cheap hardware store clamp lights, film/video/photo lights, stage/theatre lights, lava lamps, disco balls, lighting gels, light stands, power strips, cube taps, ground lifters, etc. ---->  Bring what you want --> If you or we can put it up, it might be great!

        HANGABLES:  Tapestries, artwork, streamers, etc.  There are trees and stuff to hang things on and from.  Just make sure you clean it up before you leave!

        FIRE ART:  Bring your poi, staff, fingers, etc, but use it only in the designated areas.  Of course, if you're bringing fire performing stuff, you should bring a fire extinguisher, too.

        FIREWOOD:  There is some firewood already there for the multiple swanky fire areas, but feel free to bring more firewood to add.

        VIDEO PROJECTOR(S)/SCREEN(S):  If you have something to show on them.

*     Audio Gear :  speakers, amps, cables/wiring, bass bins, speaker stands/hangers.  If you have any, feeel free to bring 'em!!  The Soulstice Sound System (amp, tops, big bass bins)are available if someone has a pickup truck or something that can fit them and  will stop in North Park to grab 'em!

*     Musical Instruments :  electric, acoustic, electronic, whatever - if ya got it, bring it, make music with it (whether "on stage" as part of the "lineup" or somewhere impromptu)

*     Video Media :  MPGs, laptops, video ipods, videotapes, DVDs, whatever - bring it and plug it into the Soulstice projectors.  Oh, wait, bring your video projector, too if you have one!

*     Audio Media :  vinyl, CDs, MP3s, laptops, ipods, whatever - bring it.  Better if you can prearrange when/where you'll play at Soulstice, but even if you don't, bring it and see what happens!

*     Utilities

        TRASH/RECYCLING:   Bring trash cans & bags for trash & recycling.

        SIGNAGE:  Needed, to mark parking, directions, donation boxes, release forms, rattlesnakes, etc.

        EXTENSION CORDS:  The more, the better.  If you have any, bring 'em!

        TRAIL/ROAD MARKERS:  Glow sticks, solar lamps, LEDs, El-wire all works well to mark trails and roads and turnoffs, bathrooms, etc.

        DONATION BOXES:  The ones Dave S. made for Soulstice X are being brought!  Maybe someone in can devise some well-lit markings so people notice them.

*     Kids :  Bring your kids if you want - it's a good thing.  Just make sure you're able to keep them protected from hot day sun, maybe chilly nights, and fire spots around the venue.

*     Solar Power :    Wouldn't that be great if someone could bring out solar-powered battery setup to run some electricity from?  SOULstice is on Summer SOLstice after all.  If you can make that happen, even if in a small way, that'd be tres cool!

*     Sports/recreation:     There's lotta good space for these types of things:

        BALLERS:  soccer, volleyball, whiffleball, dodgeball, kickball, football, etc.

        FRISBEE GOLF:  Dan. M. brought holes to Soulstice X.  (OOoh, this SXV spot would make a great miniature frisbee golf course!!)

        HORSESHOES:  Dan M. brought a set to Soulstice X.

        KITES, CROQUET, LAWN DARTS, SLIP-N-SLIDE, BADMINTON:  All that type of stuff is good to bring

        TELESCOPE:  Stargazing is fun!

*     Food :  Who wants to hook up some meal'age??  (Breakfasts, lunches, dinners)

15th Soulstice?!   ¿Do I hear Quinceanera?

In Bonsall, CA

June 24-26, 2011

(new website, somebody!)

*    This year’s theme has been suggested to be Fifteen-related (since it is Soulstice 15 and all) whichs sounds to some soulsters like a QUINCEAÑERA party!  So, what does one find at Quincenañeras, besides poofy dresses???  Why don't you show the answer at Soulstice?!

 *    Also, this is the 14th anniversary of Soulstice.  Traditional and/or contemporary 14th anniversary themes are:

        GIFTS:  Traditionally, 14th anniversary gift is ivory - but that is now conventionally recognized as not so nice, but "the ivories" (piano) sure is.  So can we get an Amy Jo, Christie Scott, or any other ivory-tickler doing there thing under the stars, or under the big daytime star?

        FLOWERS:  Orchids, Dahlia (any floral folk wanna confirm this?)

        GEMS:  Opal - for real, not kidding. Alternates are Agate & Bloodstone.
